Cannes, France, May 24 (EFE).- An extensive power cut has left the western part of the French department of Alpes-Maritimes in the south-east without electricity, including the town of Cannes, where the renowned film festival by the same name was set to hold its closing ceremony on Saturday, with the Palme d'Or award. A spokesman for the prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes told EFE that the blackout affected the entire west of the department, bordering Italy, and pointed out that the causes of it remain unknown.
