Инаугурационная служба Папы Льва XIV на площади Святого Петра в Ватикане
Vatican City, May 18 (EFE).– Pope Leo XIV began his papacy on Sunday with an enthronement Mass in which he received the symbols of papal authority, the pallium and the Fisherman’s Ring. During the ceremony, he delivered a heartfelt appeal for unity within the Church and peace in a world marked by “too much hatred and prejudice.” Camera: Mariano Rojas. Footage of the enthronement Mass of Pope Leo XIV, attended by royalty—including the kings of Spain—and other world leaders. Includes statements by Pope Leo XIV. Translation: 1."Brothers and sisters, I greet you all with a heart full of gratitude at the beginning of the ministry entrusted to me. I was elected without merit, and with fear and trembling, I come to you as a brother who wishes to be a servant of your faith and joy. With all men and women of goodwill, we must build a new world in which peace prevails". 2. "Let this be our first great wish, brothers and sisters: a united Church, a sign of unity and communion. May it become a leaven for a reconciled world. In our times, we still see too much discord, too many wounds caused by hatred, violence, prejudice, fear of difference, and an economic model that exploits the Earth’s resources and marginalizes the poor. During the Mass, I strongly felt the spiritual presence of Pope Francis, who accompanies us from heaven". 3. "We cannot forget our brothers and sisters suffering because of war... In Gaza, children, families, elderly survivors are left starving... In Myanmar, renewed hostilities have taken the lives of innocent youth... war-torn Ukraine still longs for negotiations that lead to a just and lasting peace..."
